📋 Evidence-Based Guidelines
🇦🇺 Australia — Based on ASCIA & Raising Children Network guidance
Start solids around 6 months, not before 4 months. Introduce all common allergens before 12 months. Early introduction significantly reduces allergy risk. Once tolerated, offer allergens at least weekly to maintain tolerance.
🇺🇸 USA (AAP) & 🇨🇦 Canada (CPS)
Introduce allergens at around 6 months. High-risk babies (severe eczema or existing allergy) should begin peanut and egg as early as 4-6 months with GP guidance. Maintain 2-3 times per week exposure once introduced.
🇪🇺 Europe — ESPGHAN / EAACI
Solids not before 4 months, not delayed beyond 6 months. Egg and peanut ideally introduced 4-6 months for highest allergy prevention benefit. Continue breastfeeding alongside all solid foods.
⚠ Always consult your GP or paediatrician before starting solids, especially if baby has eczema, an existing allergy, or a strong family history of allergic disease. This app is a practical guide aligned with published medical guidelines — not a substitute for personalised medical advice. Sources: ASCIA (2026), Raising Children Network, AAP (2019), ESPGHAN, EAACI.
🥤 How Much to Feed
Based on 2024 AAP, WHO and Australian NHMRC guidelines. Always follow your baby's hunger and fullness cues.
Week 1 — Once a day
Start with 1-2 teaspoons of smooth puree, building to 3-4 teaspoons by end of week. Offer once daily after a milk feed. Try: Sweet potato, carrot, butternut squash, parsnip.
Weeks 2-3 — Once or twice a day
Offer 3-5 teaspoons per meal, once or twice daily. Introduce a new food every 2-3 days. Try: Broccoli, peas, spinach, apple, pear, green beans.
Weeks 4-6 — Twice a day
Work up to 6-10 teaspoons per meal, twice daily. Begin mixing accepted foods together. Try combos: Sweet potato + carrot, apple + pear, banana + avocado, mango + strawberry.
2-3 Months in — Three times a day
3 meals per day with growing variety. Move from smooth purees towards mashed and soft lumps. Introduce allergens — nuts, egg, dairy, fish — during this window. Try: Family foods adapted, finger foods, mixed textures.
Key rule: Always follow your baby. If they turn away, close their mouth or push food out — they have had enough. Never force extra bites. Responsive feeding builds a healthy relationship with food for life.
🛡️ Safety First
• Always introduce one new food at a time
• Wait 2–3 days before introducing the next new food
• Never introduce allergens if baby is unwell
• Consult your paediatrician with any concerns
⚠️ Flagged allergens will be highlighted in your plan. Always introduce under medical supervision.
